Our training Institute in Waco, TX last week was a huge success! In partnership with the Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Coalition, Unbound Waco, and various faculty from across Texas, we trained 30+ officers and prosecutors from 20 US jurisdiction (18 across the state of Texas), on national best practices for eradicating human trafficking. This included sections presented by survivors, case studies on multiple types of trafficking, the pursuit of financial crimes, tech tools to streamline and improve investigations, and social service agencies to support victim-centered criminal justice.
Our CEO Rochelle Keyhan shared her victim-centered criminal justice expertise as a former prosecutor, as well as her extensive knowledge on investigating and prosecuting human trafficking. She was also the expert “Emcee” for the week long event.
We are so grateful for our local partners and their expertise, and for the enthusiastic participants who contribute to making these institutes a success. We look forward to seeing their new lessons in action as we collaborate across jurisdictions to end human trafficking!
