About Collective Liberty:
Collective Liberty is an award winning NGO whose mission is to eradicate human trafficking by collaborating across industries, agencies, and service providers to create ground-breaking, data-driven approaches that work. By encouraging the existing human trafficking community and other stakeholders to think in new and innovative ways, we address, disrupt and put an end to all forms of trafficking. We work closely with government agencies to shift systems and improve public policy to ensure as a community we support survivors while stopping traffickers.
Internship Description:
Collective Liberty, a forward-thinking, fast paced non-profit, is looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various social media platforms. Collective Liberty was launched in November 2018 and needs to create and regularly distribute content to raise our digital profile and to inject critically-needed nuance and information into the national discourse about trafficking, exploitation, and systemic change. The organization has mapped out its general communication strategy for 2021 and the digital marketing/social media intern will work to generate and post content to align with this strategy. Regular posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter are expected. Interns are encouraged to brainstorm new ideas and platforms to an organization that regularly seeks to innovate, learn, and grow.
Although interns will have a consistent project of ensuring steady digital content there will be opportunities for additional short projects including supporting urgent/crisis communications and marketing to respond to emerging situations (e.g. Wayfair conspiracy theory, major law enforcement event, major grant award), supporting website updates and/or improvements, blog posts, or coordinating media with partner organizations for a collaborative, unified message.
Successful interns will bring a grassroots mentality, cultural humility, and a desire to constantly learn, try, iterate, and try better. We are an organization that knows it will take a dedicated, long-term effort to change systems that enable human trafficking and we must all be willing to grow and adapt in order to meet new challenges as traffickers, enablers, and systems attempt to change and stay entrenched to profit from human exploitation.
